Project brief
Technical geniuses within photography, the company required external help to identify where it was falling behind in its online digital technology.
Several big high street names were falling, yet several were getting stronger. If LCE were to modernise, we needed to clearly understand what the competition was doing online.
Project delivery
My agency delivered a 72 page Online Performance Report to the directors of London Camera Exchange — the photography retailer with over 26 high street stores. It covered everything from page speed and mobile responsiveness to the in-store/online experience, branding and site search.
We included a final section analysing three of the main online and offline competitors in the space to discover best practice and new ideas — giving LCE a clear picture of exactly where they needed to move and how fast.
Outcomes
London Camera Exchange went on to adopt hundreds of our recommendations through their internal web development team. While Jessops collapsed and other high street camera retailers disappeared, LCE are still trading today across 26+ stores.
Sometimes the most valuable thing a consultant can deliver isn’t a number — it’s clarity. We gave LCE a roadmap at exactly the right moment.
The result
Still trading
While Jessops and others collapsed
London Camera Exchange implemented 70% of our recommendations and continue to trade across 26+ high street stores today — in a sector that has lost most of its major players.
